MAZINGER ZERO CCS REVIEW

Introduction :
Over time, the robotic collecting market has accustomed us to seeing the birth of new production companies. In 2020, CCS Toys presents itself to collectors from all over the world with a beautiful representation of the famous mecha "Gurren Lagann". In 2021 comes the second model that will be the subject of our new review, the Mazinger Zero. The mecha is based on the Shin Mazinger Zero vs. the General of Darkness manga, a sequel to Shin Mazinger ZERO that started in February 2013 and ended in November 2015. While the previous manga was a remake of the Mazinger Z series, this one is based on the movie “Mazinger Z vs Great General of Darkness”.

Product graphics and packaging.
The presentation of the product is already something really taken care of, something of that, with this quality, has been difficult to find on the market lately. We have a "brown box" with the outline of Mazinger Zero stylized on one of the sides, while inside there is the actual package with nothing short of spectacular graphics. Once opened, we find ourselves in front of a black card with large red writing and, in the background, the images of the manga. Once this cover has been removed, all the contents are finally revealed which, among other things, are well arranged and divided into three plastic blisters and a large polystyrene container. All this care gives back a wonderful sensation of a "Premium" product even before touching the model with your hand.

The robot.

Maziiiiin Go…..! removed from the package the Mazinger Zero, immediately shows the "muscles" … .. 25 cm in height with a weight of 850 grams which, with the Scrander mounted, become about 1 Kg. The conception of the model CCS Toys, is based on a metal frame with plastic outer covers. The great quality of the materials used for its construction is immediately perceived and, what is even more exciting, it has a satin finish and an absolute level of color choice. The body is full of skilfully sculpted and evenly distributed details so as not to weigh down the aesthetics of the product. The joints used to manage the movements are all friction with a really excellent degree of resistance and allow you, to reproduce a wide range of very dynamic positionings, just as they are reproduced in the manga. The Mazinger Zero is also equipped with LEDs for lighting the eyes, mouth and chest plates for the simulation of the famous "Brest Fire". The activation of the LED system takes place via a touch control placed on the back of the model, no unsightly buttons or switches! This system also allows you to replicate two different lighting modes, one fixed and one with light with increasing intensity. Unfortunately, however, we must note the short life of the batteries which, after not many ignitions, have exhausted their energy. The only real flaw of this Mazinger Zero lies in the conception of the two parts to be placed on the sides of the mecha. The pressure insertion fails to prevent their detachment, unfortunately almost systematic, every time you go to move your legs.

Accessories.
The accessories package is very complete, both in terms of quantity and quality. We have the huge "Zero Scrander", the "Iron Cutters", two alternative covers for the forearms, effect parts, alternative backs for the hands, two bases for the fists and the display stand with the appropriate supports. The insertion of the Zero Scrander takes place very simply, thanks to a support to be inserted behind the back. A small opening door reveals the special housing where the accessory will be fixed. The Zero Scrander, once positioned, can be rotated in different positions and does not create any yielding to the model. The torso joints prove very reliable in supporting the Mazinger Zero's large Scrander. We can make two different types of Iron Cutters, the blades are inserted by pressing into the special sections obtained inside the forearms. By removing the covers, the fastening seats are revealed and, once the desired couplings have been made, the special optional parts supplied are used for closing. CCS has also provide effect parts to simulate the throwing of punches, they are simply assembled and have a beautiful aesthetic result. But that's not all, using the two special stands with folding metal stem, it is also possible to replicate the actual detachment of Mazinger Zero's fists. Note the metal bases with screen-printed writing on the underside, they weigh 200 grams each and ensure truly optimal support for the parts. I can not talk about the detail of the hands of this model. There are no alternative sets, but only one endowment with articulated fingers made very well indeed! CCS Toys, to increase the range of action of the hands, has provide two alternative backs which, once assembled, allow the two ends to be raised further upwards. This detail, which for many may be insignificant, but is a sign of great care and attention to make the product complete from every point of view.

Display Stand.
We conclude our "voyage" with the display stand. The display base is very simple but it made a great effect, thanks to the glossy black and the gold-colored writing with the name of the model. It has a large metal stem and a smaller one with the appropriate support in the upper part. By inserting the appropriate part between the legs of the Mazinger, we can fix it to the display stand and obtain the exposure in suspended poses. It is also possible to apply the Zero Scrander to the base and fix the model above it to obtain a second display method of great effect.

Conclusions and final verdict:

CCS Toys' Mazinger Zero turned out to be a truly exciting product. From the packaging, to the last of the accessories, there is a really high level of care for the product that I have hardly encountered in other productions in the collecting sector. The attention to details, even the smallest ones, denote great passion and attention on the part of the production house. Hard to believe that the Mazinger Zero is only the second model produced! Too bad for the not very successful detail of the sides, but net of the great manufacturing quality, one can only applaud and exalt CCS Toys!
